A Michael Jackson Cover of "This Woman's Work"...

So, I don't know where this came from. ...Oh YES I DO.  I was listening to that cat Michael Trapson!  His parody song Billie Jean and I Dab!  Now, peep the way my mind works, you can't give me stuff like that because I get ideas.  When I saw the dab in the video, I thought about how some people cry and, basically, dab to hide their tears.  Which made me think about Maxwell's song, This Woman's Work, because of the whole, "I should be crying but I just can't let it show..."

...And THAT'S where my almost-brilliant idea popped up.  I say almost-brilliant because, well... I shoulda thought of it before MJ left Earth Realm.  Dig this:  Michael Jackson should've covered Maxwell's This Woman's Work.

My younger sib Siiren had her doubts when I threw the idea at her because, according to her, Michael struggled in certain high octaves (notice how I said "according to her"; that's how big brothers throw little sisters under the bus, juuuust in case there's an MJ-hive out there somewhere, lol).  But I agree that he might sound strange in the same octave that Maxwell used; cool---  just have him sing the song in a lower octave.  In fact, if he were to sing the song in a lower octave, it would probably add to the drama of the track, particularly if he were to just raise the octave at specific parts rather than singing the whole song that way.

Also, while MJ probably could make a heck of a track using the original instrumental (original meaning Maxwell's version, because even Maxwell's was a cover), something else came to mind while I was piecing this together in my head.  Switch the drums up and use the sound kit from MJ's Stranger in Moscow.  That snare would definitely suit the track, in my mind, and would give it a nice little "pop" without taking the somberness out of the mood.

Now, since we don't have Mike, should some high-power producer out there come across this article and want to use this idea, I think it might work if somebody like a Justin Timberlake or a The Weeknd or a Robin Thicke or an Usher gave it a shot.  But... ya know, all four of those guys are great example of why the track worked for Maxwell.  When you think Maxwell, you think... the best way I can put it is "male womynist" or sumn.  When you think of those other four guys, you think of a certain level of bravado.  It's kinda hard, in my mind, to take a track like that and put it together with anybody that's too alpha or too aggressive (that's not the right word, but it'll work for now).

So what are your thoughts?  If MJ was with us, would the cover work?  Any suggestions on artists who could do the cover justice?  ...Should we give Michael Trapson a shot a the throne?  Post your thoughts in ze comments below!  And THANX!
